This Art Deco cabinet from the 1930s had been sitting in a damp garage for years, hidden behind a curtain. It looked a bit sad, smelled even sadder, the drawers were stuck, and there were three different keys for three different locks — never a great sign.
But underneath all that neglect were beautiful proportions, rich burl veneer, curved glass, and proper Art Deco lines, so it clearly deserved a second chance.
The cabinet was cleaned, repaired, and carefully refinished. Parts of the body were painted in Fusion Mineral Paint “Ash”, while the burl veneer was treated with satin hardwax oil to bring the wood back to life and highlight the depth of the grain. The inside of the display section was refinished with Art Deco wallpaper and fitted with interior lighting, turning it into a proper display cabinet again.
Now it’s back to doing what it was meant to do — stand somewhere nice and look important.
